October Local Featured Author: Sharon Fields
Sharon
Fields is the proud mother of 3 responsible and caring young men, Kenderras,
Juwan and Quelon Fields. She is 43 years of age and the Site Director of the
Neighborhood Christian Center-Chickasaw. Sharon graduated with honors from the
Fayette Ware Comprehensive High School in Somerville, TN 26 years ago. She is a
faithful elder at the Pursuit of God Transformation Center. She served 9 years as Children’s Ministry
Director and was recently promoted as the Youth-Leaders Enrichment Specialist,
which recruits, trains and oversees all aspects of youth ministry at the POG.
She is very committed to soul winning, praying for and serving others. Sharon
is an alumnus of Southwest Tennessee Community College
Sharon
has roots in the performing arts, her teen years she was the lead psalmist for
the Fredonia Baptist Church Youth Choir and one of the lead sopranos for the
mass choir. Sharon has written and directed a Christmas play, “The Last
Christmas” which debut in December 2009 at the Transformation Center. She possesses a wide variety of creative
skills which include acting, directing, editing and writing.
Sharon
is also an over comer of child molestation, alcoholism, abandonment and
rejection. At age 17, Sharon was pregnant and homeless. She experienced a
pre-term stillbirth that put her health in jeopardy. Her quest for love drove
her into the arms of many men, during early 20’s she became a functioning
alcoholic. Drinking everyday was the way to cope with the anger, loneliness and
disappointment. God is still transforming her into His image and she is
passionate about young women discovering their purpose and living a life free
from addictions and emotional pain.
She
will be discussing her book “Overcomer” and her background at the What’s
Happening Myron Book Club Meet-Up on Saturday October 18th from
4-6pm at Panera Bread, 4530 Poplar Avenue in the Laurelwood Shopping Center. We’d
