December Local Featured Author: Megan Mottley

The local featured author for the December Book Club is Megan Mottley, who has been writing since she was a child. She is the author of “Glamour Girl: How To Get The Ultimate Makeover”. It wasn't until Megan reached college that she realized her talent for writing; she decided to operate fully in her gift and as a result has made quite an impact on her growing audience. To date, Megan has over 12 years of experience in the journalism industry and has worked in every facet of the media.

Megan earned a Bachelor of Arts in English (specializing in Professional/Technical Writing) from the University of Memphis. She also earned a Masters degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Religion and Journalism from the University of Memphis. Megan worked as a freelance writer for 9 years and was published in Grace Magazine, Dateline Memphis Entertainment News, The Daily Helmsman, B. Visible Magazine, BRAVO Magazine, The Christian Banner-formerly Mid-South World, and PROUD Magazine. Megan worked as a Copywriter Intern at Clear Channel Radio and served as the Editor of PROUD Magazine and the Black Business Directory.

Megan launched her own publication, DIVINE Magazine, a high quality print and digital Inspirational Magazine, in 2007 which has won DMAG America’s Memphis Choice Award for Best Entertainment (2011) and she was also the recipient of Tri-State Defender’s 50 Women of Excellence Award (2011).

Megan is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (Epsilon Kappa Chapter). Megan has a beautiful 12 year old daughter, Kaitlin, who reminds her that every day is worth living and worth celebrating.
